LISTEN HERE!

This series explores Zappa as a composer, and is told through the memories of some of those who knew him best -- family, his friends, and some of the musicians who worked with him. You'll hear from Zappa's wife, Gail Zappa,(daughter of a rocket scientist, mother of Moon, Dweezil, Ahmet and Diva Zappa. Writer, Art Director, Provocateur.) Ruth Underwood, the percussionist who first heard him at a famous concert at New Yorks Garrick theatre in 1967.(The Mothers of Invention played in New York in late 1966 and were offered a contract at the Garrick Theater during Easter 1967. This proved successful and Herb Cohen extended the booking, which eventually lasted half a year. As a result, Zappa and his wife, along with The Mothers of Invention, moved to New York. Their shows became a combination of improvised acts showcasing individual talents of the band as well as tight performances of Zappa's music)
Elliot Ingber, (In 1966, he was a founding member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention and was featured on their debut album Freak Out! After being fired from the band by Frank Zappa, Ingber helped form Fraternity of Man, which released two albums. He subsequently joined Captain Beefheart's Magic Band where he was given the stage name Winged Eel Fingerling by Beefheart.) , and Joe Travers (He is the Joe in "Joe's Corsage" and "Joe's Domage"), drummer and vaultmeister of the Zappa archives.
